He was supposed to anyway. I dont remember the exact paramaters, but most creature summoned by wishes will generally despawn later

I believe that if the summoned monster wished to stay, they could. But they usually don't, as their home dimension to them is much more comfortable. For example why the Nether Mobs couldn't be around in the Overworld (even at night, it is still too cold for most of them) There is also a spell that keeps them in the current dimension permanently.

Oh and if a summoned being from another dimension died, they would respawn in the original dimension. (I know this for sure. But don't ask me for clarification). So theoretically, you could have an undying army (like summoning the KoA over and over again into Icerahn). But of course there are limitations with spatial magic so that wouldn't work.

Also, there is a difference between summoning and a being walking into a portal, so if you died in the nether after walking through a portal, you die.

The thing is, any system created by a human is prone to failure, but systems not created by humans are the ones they fail to comprehend.
