This is the advanced weapons page. It contains exact data from calculations and logical inferences. Although it is recommended that casuals view the classic weapons page, some parts of it may link here to save space and for the sake of not duplicating text.
Please withhold irrelevant data; verify it first. The best way to do this is in the comments. If you are adding data, try to get the sections above it finished before continuing. THIS ALSO MEANS DO NOT ADD INFORMATION WITH FALSE CALCULATIONS: CHECK VALUES ON THIS WIKI, NOT OTHERS, BEFORE CALCULATING.

Weapons are used to deal damage to opponents. Melee weapons are used at close range, while others are ranged and can hit targets from far away. Some ranged weapons, like Bows and Crossbows, fire a projectile in order to deal damage. Others are thrown to strike targets.

The ability Dual Wield allows the user to use two one-handed items at once, including weapons. Any weapon marked 2-handed cannot be used in sync with another item. Although it is possible to wield another 2-handed or one-handed weapon while already wielding a 2-handed weapon, the other item must be stowed before using a 2-handed item. However, any one-handed item can be used while holding another item, but if the other item is 2-handed, they cannot be used in sync. It should be noted that while a bow is technically one-handed, it requires two hands to operate. The Rapid Fire enchantment (crossbow only) auto-reloads a weapon, so it can be used by one hand once loaded.

Weapon classification and organization[]

This category explains the weapon classification, identification, and categorization systems used on this page.

Weapons are split into 2 primary categories: ranged and melee. Ranged weapons can be used at a distance because they fire projectiles. Melee weapons are used to perform close-range attacks such as stabs, thrusts, and slashes.

Melee weapon classification and identification[]

Melee weapons use the following layout to provide information on weapons. However, only the Description section is included in the text; the rest of the sections describe what each section in the table should be recognized as. Keep in mind that if a weapon's section is complete, but certain things remain missing, that is because the data is unknown.

Description: An overview of the weapon's uses, features, and other things a user may want to know.

Weapon dimensions: The dimensions of a weapon. Measurements are approximate and are provided in centimeters (cm). For reference, a block is about 100cm. A block is also comprised of 16 pixels, each of which measures 6.25 cm. Legendary weapons have a pixel size of about Take note of this when inserting data but keep measurements in cm. See the pictures at the bottom of this section for more clarity.

  • Length: The length of the weapon from the tip of the blade to the part that protrudes out of the handle, as well as the upper end (guard) of the handle to the lower end (pommel) of the handle.
  • Blade/tip length: The length from the tip of the blade/tip to the part that protrudes out of the hilt.
  • Grip/handle length: The length from the bottom of the guard to the top of the pommel.
  • Width: The length of the widest horizontal side of the item to its parallel side.
  • Blade width: The length of the widest horizontal side of the blade to the parallel side of the blade.
  • Guard length: Length from one end of the guard to the parallel end.
  • Hilt length: The length from the top of the guard to the bottom of the pommel.
  • Thickness: The thickness of the blade at its sharpest point. Generally 1, but should be included nonetheless.

Attributes: Any attributes of the weapon (single-edged, special modifiers, etc) and other stats like attack speed. Keep in mind that Aetheria's attack speed system is measured in seconds per attack (charging speed), not Minecraft's attacks per second. This topic is elaborated later on, at the respective beginnings of the ranged weapon and melee weapon categories.

Related Weapons: Weapon's names that appear in books taking place in the Aetherian universe. (For example, Eeebs' silver katana, or Kolb's adamant greatsword.

Item specifications: What crafting station is used and how the item is crafted and obtained. (Crucible, anvil, 3x3 crafting table, 5x5 Aeon Forge, 7x7 3D Printer, etc)

Weapon category/function: This dictates the weapon the category falls into, as well as its function. (Different categories of weapons have different functions.) A “Base Extension“ weapon (see the next topic) may appear as another weapon's “Weapon type”.

Function: How the weapon is used; the intended use of the weapon. (e.g. ranged, aquatic, melee, magical, physical, effectual)

Weapon type: This indicates the design the weapon uses, as well as what type of weapon/item this is.

Weapon sub-type: The model of a weapon. A base extension, an extension of the base, foundation weapon, and base weapon sub-types are generally themselves.

Description: SAME AS MELEE This indicates the design the weapon uses, as well as what type of weapon/item this is.

Weapon category/function: SAME AS MELEE

Weapon type: SAME AS MELEE

Weapon dimensions: SAME AS MELEE

Height: Length of weapon, from top-end to bottom-end. On non-bow weapons, the length of the weapon from the highest point of the weapon to the lowest point of the weapon.

String length/barrel diameter: The length of the exposed string of a bow weapon, and diameter of the interior of the barrel.

Length: The length of the weapon from the front to back.

Thickness: How wide the weapon is from one side to the other.

Attributes and handling: Attributes the weapon may possess (firing modes, special conditions, magazine, etc), as well as how the weapon is handled. (Arm-mounted, two-handed, single-handed, and how it is held each way.) Keep in mind that Aetheria's attack speed measures for ranged weapons are often not provided, and likely vary.

Ammunition used: Any and all ammunition the weapon can use without changing or enchanting.

Range: The range this weapon is generally used at, as well as the effective range.

Crafting: What crafting station is used and how the item is crafted. (Fletching table, anvil, loom, 3x3 crafting table, 5x5 Aeon Forge, 7x7 3D Printer, etc,)

If you look at the photo to the left, you'll see 2 measurements: one being vertical, and the other being diagonal. The vertical measurement represents one pixel, which, in this case, is equal to 6.25cm. However, when looking at diagonal measurement, you notice that it is a little longer.

Weapon tree and weapon tree positions[]

The weapon tree is a separate weapon organization system but is being used to help categorize and identify some weapons, as well as help users better understand the weapon.

Weapon tree categories[]

The weapon tree contains various markers used to identify weapons and their role in the weapon tree.

( V ) Foundation weapon - Such a weapon acts as the base weapon for all other weapons. Nearly every single other weapon is in some way related to this.

( + ) Base weapon - One of the basic weapons derived from a foundation weapon or foundation extension. Almost all other weapons are derived from a base weapon.

( X ) Base extension - The base weapon of a group of extension weapons. Often, the base extension of a group of weapons does not have the same categories and types as the others in its group.

( / ) Extension of base - Essentially an alternate version of a base weapon. Such a weapon is not, by definition, a base weapon, but still serves as a weapon many others are developed from. For example, a saber is an extension of the base, but because it is derived from another base weapon and not unique, it cannot be classified as a base weapon.

( \ ) Extension of weapon - Another version of a weapon. Generally derived from a base weapon, an extension of the base, or a base extension. For example, a wakizashi is another version of the katana.

Melee Weapons[]

Melee weapons are used for close-range combat. You must strike your target with your weapon to deal damage*. Certain weapons can be thrown as well as used to thrust, stab, or slash.

*Certain melee weapons are exempt from this, as they are used similarly to equipment/accessories rather than for combat. Spellswords and wands, for example, are used to provide buffs to spellcasters rather than be used for direct physical combat.

Some measurement units vary:

A pixel is 6.25cm

A legendary weapons' pixel is 6cm. (Explained in 8BW Book 6)

Dynamic Combat System[]

Attack speed is measured in seconds per attack. To convert to attacks per second, divide one by the attack speed.

Aetheria's dynamic combat system is different from that of vanilla MC. A weapons advertised "attack speed" is the amount of time it takes to recover from an all-out attack, which deals the maximum damage possible.

Weapons in Aetheria have damage measured in "average damage". While a weapon's DPS remains the same, the attack speed and damage per hit can vary. If a fighter is using all out attacks, they will deal damage higher than the weapon's labeled average damage, but will incur two primary penalties as long as they are doing this: the attack animation (this term refers to the amount of time it takes to perform an attack: the time between the attack start and when the attack hits a target) will take longer, and they will suffer the full delay of their weapon's attack cooldown.

Attack cooldown and attack recovery are related, but not exactly the same. Attack cooldown is the delay the character suffers before they can perform another attack of the same or higher strength. If you were to perform an attack, with, say, 6/10 strength, you would have to wait the 60% of your weapon's attack speed value before being able to perform the same attack, or, if you wanted, a stronger attack. However, a weaker attack can be performed during the cooldown, provided you have recovered from your attack. Attack recovery is the short period after an attack in which you are tremendously slowed and cannot perform most actions. The stronger the initial attack strength, the longer the recovery period, which leads to faster attacking weapons being more ideal for more agile people, as you are unable to evade or perform countermeasures while recovering.

Differences from vanilla minecraft[]

Remember this is Aetheria. A lot of extra things exist, while some things don't exist. While many vanilla mechanics exist in Aetheria, quite a decent amount also don't, and they're not just for weapons, so watch out.

Enchantments

Weapon usage

Crafting

Crafting is a very fickle thing in Aetheria. Earlier books show that recipes are definite in Aetheria, but later data shows that recipes can be customized indefinitely. To avoid plotholes, two crafting forms are said to exist in Aetheria: magical and physical. Magical crafting is your standard vanilla crafting: place materials on the crafting grid and watch them form what you're crafting. Manual crafting allows for more advanced and customized recipes, but takes longer. Theoretically, you could craft a stick the size of a house, provided you had enough time and materials for it. Manual crafting is what allows most of the weapons in this series to exist, and is a learned skill represented by your crafting skill. Each weapon is unique in design, which is why there is confusion on the matter of what weapon is formed from magical crafting.

Axe ( X )[]

The axe deals more damage than the basic sword but has a slower attack speed. The axe is good for sudden, instant kills. In addition, it disables shields for longer than many lighter weapons. However, since it is designed for chopping wood, it takes double durability loss when used as a weapon.

Attributes

Slower attack speed than a sword, although it inflicts more damage and inflicts debuffs unique to its class.

Attack speed varies:

Wooden: 2.96

Stone: 2.96

Iron: 2.63

Diamond: 2.38

Gold: 2.38

Battle Axe ( \ )[]

The battle axe is a more weaponized version of the axe. A double-bladed design gives it better damage and a slightly higher attack speed. Since it is designed as a weapon, it removes the double durability loss weakness of the axe and is generally a 2-handed weapon. It is not known if one handed versions of battleaxes exist.

Attributes

Attacks faster than an axe, although still slower than a sword. It inflicts more damage and longer debuffs.

Throwing knife[]

A staple throwing weapon, which, while in many cases cheaper and more versatile than fired projectiles, is not a good source of damage and therefore not a very useful weapon unless enchanted with Boomerang or large in quantity. Unlike some other weapons, like daggers, spears, and tridents, throwing knives, any weapons derived from them (kunai, shurikens, explosives, etc), they can be stacked if data values are identical (same enchantments, material, type). It is not known if throwing knives can be retrieved or if they have durability. Although throwing knives can be used in melee combat, they are not designated for such purposes and therefore are categorized as ranged weapons. Dagger-type throwing weapons are usually more effective because they do not rotate, and hence have little chance of hitting with the handle, dealing essentially no damage. The shuriken attempts to solve this problem by including multiple sharp edges.

Throwing knives take after two primary models: edged, in which the knife has long, sharp edges, and tipped, in which the top/tip of the knife is extra pointy. Dagger-type throwing weapons are usually tipped, unlike the rest.

Shuriken (4-bladed)[]

The infamous shuriken is a powerful yet limited throwing weapon. Unlike its parent weapon, the throwing knife, shurikens often possess multiple sharp edges and hence have a central hole for a grip rather than a handle. Historically and practically, 2-bladed shurikens were more common, versatile, and useful. Aetheria's 4-bladed version, although not as versatile as its 2-bladed counterpart, is slightly more powerful in terms of damage. Unlike its 2-bladed counterpart, it cannot be used for armor or melee combat. Although the shuriken is more damaging, it's also more expensive than your standard daggers and throwing blades, which is why it is more efficient with the Boomerang enchant. Shurikens are not ideal for bulk use, such as a primary source of damage or in the Bladestorm ult.
